ChildrenChildren are treasured here. Every child is known by name. We strive for a warm atmosphere where they can actively participate in the life of the church. At baptism, we promise to love, encourage, and support all our children by teaching them the gospel of God’s love in Jesus Christ, by being examples of Christian faith and character, and by giving our support through fellowship, prayer, and service. A clean, well-staffed nursery is provided for babies and young children during worship and adult classes on Sunday mornings. SPLASH (Singing, Playing, Learning, Acting, Sharing, and Helping) is our Sunday School for grades Pre-K - 5, and meets on Sunday morning after worship from 11 AM to 12 PM. Our SPLASH theme is, “Learning to know God through participation.” SPLASH is a very active program that is designed to teach biblical truths through different activities that the children can participate in. Whether it is taking part in drama, watching a video, cooking something delicious, making a craft, or learning through computers, SPLASH is designed to develop interaction between children, the adult leaders, and God by making scripture come alive through activity. LOGOS (“The Word”) is our Wednesday afternoon ministry for grades 2-6. The students are picked up after school and brought to the church. We also have classes for grades 7 and 8. They are picked up from the school at 5:15 PM after school sports and activities. Our goal for LOGOS is that the children come to know and love God through relationships with other children and caring adults. A typical Wednesday of LOGOS would include eating a snack when the children arrive, spending an hour in recreation (fishing, taking a hike, playing a game), breaking up into Bible study, singing in choir, and then gathering all the children and their families in the Fellowship Hall to share dinner together at the end of the night.
Genesis Bells is a bell choir for children and beginners. They rehearse on Sunday evenings under the direction of Tina DeYoung. For more information about Genesis Bells, click here.
