Values of 2nd Reformed Church

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship and to breaking of bread and prayers." - Acts 2:42

"God calls the church into life together and empowers us with the Holy Spirit so that we may worship God, serve one another and those in need, and proclaim the gospel of the love of God in Jesus Christ." - Acts 2:42-47

Community (Fellowship) – We value loving, intergenerational relationships, and face to face interaction. We will care for one another, pray for one another, trust one another, and enjoy one another. We will continually invite others to share our fellowship, widening the circle of inclusion.

Worship (Prayers) – We value worship centered on the Triune God, grounded in scripture, and filled with prayers and praise. We will attend to the word as it comes to us in proclamation and sacraments. We will use creative, classical Reformed expressions of worship that draw upon rituals, symbols, and a variety of music and other arts.

Service (Breaking of Bread) – We value an outward looking perspective, believing the church should engage society. We will support missions around the world with our finances, as well as missions closer to home through tangible deeds. In our life together we will witness to a God who cares for those in need and comes to the "least of these our brothers and sisters."

Spiritual Formation and Study (Apostle's Teaching) - We value learning, discussion, and openness to a variety of voices and opinions. We will be a church which encourages all ages to grow in the knowledge of God with both heart and mind. We especially will cherish our children and youth and nurture their growing faith.
